Existem pelo menos cinco usinas em sua extens\u00e3o (Nova Ponte, Miranda, Capim Branco I, Capim Branco II, operadas pela CEMIG; al\u00e9m dessas o rio possui UHE Macacos uma hidrel\u00e9trica com pot\u00eancia instalada m\u00ednima de 6,2 MW e energia cuja pot\u00eancia assegurada corresponde a 8,1 MW m\u00e9dios, localizada no rio Araguari, no munic\u00edpio de Perdizes (MG). Operada pela ENECEL do grupo <a title=\"Lafarge\" href=\"\/wiki\/Lafarge\">Lafarge<\/a>.
